Vilacanota Llama Trek (9 days)

9 days duration

We recommend that before setting off on any Andean Trek, you have 2 or 3 nights in Cuzco. This time at leisure will allow you to acclimatise to the high altitude and ultimately make your trek more enjoyable.

A relatively new road into the southern part of Peru's spectacular Vilcanota Range has opened up an exciting region of snow fields and lakes rich in birdlife. Be among the first to explore this remote Peruvian back country!

Llamas transport all of your gear, so you walk with just a daypack and your camera. In these high valleys beneath towering peaks and ice fields, you will see traditional Quechuan highlanders tending herds of alpacas. The sense of space, the sheer grand scale of the land builds throughout each exciting day of this strenuous Andean trek.

On arrival into Cuzco you will be met and taken to your centrally located hotel for two nights. This afternoon is at leisure to acclimatise to the high altitude.
