Ultimate Africa Safari (28 days)26 days duration
On arrival in Joburg, you catch the hotel bus to your conveniently located airport hotel.
After breakfast you catch the shuttle back to the airport to fly to Maun in Botswana. On arrival in Maun you are met and taken for lunch. After lunch you undertake a scenic flight over the Delta to an airstrip near where your first safari accommodation is set up. This component of your safari involves exclusive sites, no camp duties, spacious dome tents with cot beds for sleeping and and ensuite bathroom attached to your tent with a shower and flushing toilet. The clear channels and waterways of the Okavango Delta are explored on a mokoro excursion with lunch being enjoyed on an island. Later you have an afternoon game drive, taking in the changing colours of Africa's sunset. (BLD)
After breakfast your camp is moved to the Khwai Flood Plains, while you continue to explore the ever changing scenery of the reserve. Enjoying early morning and late afternoon game drives, you will uncover the secrets of this pristine wilderness area and the many species of animal and birdlife that make Moremi their home. (BLD)
You then continue overland to the Savute Marsh and Savute Channel, famous for its large predators. This amazing area and its waterholes are explored during your early morning and late afternoon game drives with your local expert guide. (BLD)
The final stop on your safari is the Chobe River section of Chobe National Park. Chobe National Park is famous for its large herds of Elephant, the largest in Africa, as well as its sunset cruises on the beautiful Chobe River. (BLD)
Today you are taken by road to Livingstone in Zambia. The remainder of the day is at leisure. In the afternoon you undertake a "sundowner cruise" on the upper Zambezi River during which you have a chance of seeing elephant, crocodiles and hippos. (B)
After breakfast you are taken on a tour of Victoria Falls during which you see them from the Zambian side. Later you visit the Mukuni Village, home to the Leya People. Your afternoon is at leisure. There are many optional activities you may wish to consider such as a helicopter flight over the falls. These activities involve additional cost. (B)
This morning is at leisure before being taken to the airport to fly to Joburg. On arrival you take the hotel shuttle to your hotel. (B)
After breakfast you catch the shuttle back to the airport for your flight to Nairobi, Kenya's capital. On arrival you are met and taken to your city hotel for the night. (B)
Following breakfast you are driven to Lake Nakuru National Park. After lunch you have a leisurely game drive through the park, famous for pink flamingos. (BLD)
Today you drive to Masai Mara. Here you undertake the first of many safaris. (BLD)
You undertake morning and afternoon game drives in this spectacular reserve. Masai Mara has a permanent population of plains' game including some of the “Big 5”: Elephant, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard. (BLD)
After breakfast you are driven to your Serengeti lodge in Tanzania. Here you have two nights. The landscape with its low vegetation and plains, is ideal for game viewing. Famed for its annual migrations of Wildebeest, Zebra and Gazelle and tracked by predators such as Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Hyena, you are in for a thrilling few days. (BLD)
Today is spent game viewing in this wildlife paradise, Tanzania’s largest national park and one of the world's largest reserves. (BLD)
You say farewell to the Serengeti as you drive to Ngorongoro Crater, one of the Wonders of the World and designated World Heritage Site. Your here has probably the most breathtaking views in in East Africa. (BLD)
This morning you leave early in your game viewing vehicles and descend the 670 metres to the Crater floor for a fantastic day among Africa’s “Big 5”: Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo. Following this you drive to Lake Manyara for two nights. (BLD)
Today you undertake a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. This national park is located between the wall of the Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara and is famous for its tree climbing lions, herds of elephants and hot spring waters (Maji moto). (BLD)
After breakfast you are driven to Amboseli National Park, Kenya. Situated at the foot of Kilimanjaro, Amboseli is famous for its herds of elephant and views of Mount Kilimanjaro. After lunch you have another game drive in search of elephant, lion, giraffe and buffalo. (BLD)
Today you further explore the park and if weather permits, view Kilimanjaro. (BLD)
You have a morning game drive before being driven back to Nairobi. On arrival you are taken to the airport for your flight to Kigali, Rwanda. On arrival you are met and taken to your hotel for tonight. (B)
This morning you undertake a Kigali City Tour, which includes a visit to the 1994 Genocide Memorial Centre at Gisozi. This is for most, a highly emotional event! Later you travel to Kinigi in the foothills of the Virunga Mountains for two nights. (BD)
Today you set out to experience mountain gorillas in Volcanoes NP, where you visit a habituated gorilla family. Sitting among them as they go about their activities will be one of the most poignant and thrilling wildlife encounters you will have! (BLD)
After breakfast you set off in search of the Golden Monkeys found in this area. This is a very different experience from yesterday's gorilla encounter. The monkeys react and interact completely differently from the gorillas and usually play hide-and-seek while you watch. This is followed by lunch while heading back to Kigali where on arrival, you check in to your hotel for tonight. (BL)
Today you are taken to the airport, where your Ultimate Africa Safari ends. (B)
