The Ultimate Namibia (9 days)9 days duration
On arrival into Windhoek you will be met and taken to your luxury hotel for the night.
This morning you are transferred to Eros Airport, where you board a light aircraft for your flight to Serra Cafema Luxury Camp. Located in the extreme north-west of Namibia, it is arguably the most remote camp in southern Africa. It offers some of the best desert experiences in Africa; towering sand dunes, valleys and mountains, with the tranquil Kunene River flowing through the area. You share this breathtaking area with the Himba people, some of the last true nomadic people in Africa. Your stay at Serra Cafema is for two nights. (BLD)
Located just inland from the Atlantic Ocean and the Skeleton Coast, the camp enjoys cool winds from the Atlantic which regulate the temperature even in summer. The Kunene River is the only permanent source of water in the region. It creates a lush oasis along its banks, surrounded by rugged mountains and sand dunes.
Today you will have the opportunity to take part in the camp’s various activities. They include boating on the Kunene River, walking in the remote mountain and river valleys and 4x4 safaris in the Hartmann Valley, where it is possible to see herds of Springbok, Oryx and even Leopard. (BLD)
This morning you will be transferred by light plane to the Skeleton Coast Camp for a two-night stay. Because of the uniqueness and vastness of this area, most activities are done in 4x4 vehicles. There is, however, plenty of opportunity to walk too. (BLD)
You have the day to enjoy some of the many activities and excursions available. They include visits to the clay castles of the Hoarusib River, Rocky Point, the roaring dunes, lichen fields, seal colonies, Himba villages, shipwreck sites and secret water seeps that attract wildlife like Oryx, Springbok, Giraffe, Ostrich and other smaller mammals. Many specially adapted species of plants like Lithops and Welwitschia can be seen on walking excursions. (BLD)
This morning you fly by light aircraft to Swakopmund, a German Colonial town with a rich history. This afternoon is at leisure. (B)
This morning you are taken to Swakopmund Airport for your light aircraft flight to Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp. You will have two tranquil nights at this camp, situated adjacent to the massive Sossusvlei dunes, which rise dramatically more than 300 metres above the surrounding plains.
During your stay your experienced guides will bring the desert to life during nature drives and walks, with night drives producing sightings of nocturnal species such as Cape Fox, Aardwolf, Black-backed Jackals and Bat-eared Foxes. (BLD)
This morning you can enjoy breakfast served under camel thorn acacias amongst the dunes. The lodge offers easy access to Sossusvlei as well as privacy and exclusivity, so early morning excursions to the dunes and the vlei are most popular. This evening you can view the clear African night skies through a powerful telescope from the stargazing platform. You might like to experience an optional awe-inspiring balloon safari. (BLD)
This morning you will fly by light aircraft to Windhoek, where your tour ends. (B)
Please note: There are convenient flights from Windhoek to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Manu and Victoria Falls. It is possible to lengthen or shorten this tour. It is also possible to replace some flights with vehicle transfers which are cheaper but longer in duration.
