Temples & Tigers Tour (7 days)

7 days duration

The Experience Tour includes many but not all meals, allowing you to eat where you like in your free time.
14 superb meals are included in the tour: 6 Breakfasts, 4 Lunches & 4 Dinners.

This tour has a good balance between historical sites, cultural and religious ceremonies as well as wildlife in the Bandhavgarh and Kanna National Parks. While undertaking a morning boat bruise on the Ganges or viewing the evening Aarti in the ghats of Varanasi, you will be in awe of these ceremonies, performed for thousands of years in these very places. The possibility of seeing Tiger in the wild and visiting ancient temples make this tour a most moving experience!

Day 1 Friday
Arrive Nagpur / Kanha Tiger Reserve

Your Experience Tour commences on arrival at Nagpur Airport where you will be met and taken by road to your lodge located adjacent to the Kanha Tiger Reserve for a two-night stay.

One of the largest National Parks in India, Kanha offers the best chance of seeing Tiger in the wild. With its plateaus, hills and grasslands, it is also one of the country’s most scenic parks. After settling into your lodge you will undertake an afternoon jeep safari into the reserve to try and find your first tiger. (LD)

Day 2 Saturday
  Kanha Tiger Reserve

Today you will again be afforded the chance of an early morning safari to track Tiger, with breakfast and an opportunity to relax on your return before setting out in the early afternoon for another jeep safari. (BLD)

Day 3 Sunday
Kanha Tiger Reserve / Bandhavgarh National Park

After breakfast you are driven to your lodge conveniently located near the Bandhavgarh National Park for a fabulous two-night stay.

Bandhavgarh has been a centre of human activity for 2,000 years and used to belong to the Maharaja of Rewa. It is famous for its tigers but has a wide range of other game as well.

After settling in you undertake a jeep safari in the reserve to see what new treasures are to be found. (BLD)

Day 4 Monday
  Bandhavgarh National Park

Today you will again be afforded the chance of an early morning safari to track Tiger, with breakfast and an opportunity to relax on your return before setting out in the early afternoon for another Jeep safari. (BLD)

Day 5 Tuesday
  Bandhavgarh NP / Khajuraho

This morning you are taken by road to Khajuraho where you arrive in the mid afternoon. This evening you will be taken for a spectacular Sound and Light Show, providing it is operating. (B)

Day 6 Wednesday
  Khajuraho / Varanasi

In the realm of architecture, Khajuraho holds a unique position! The temples here were built between 950 and 1,050 AD by the Chandela Dynasty, who claims descent from the Moon God and a mortal, Hemavati, with whom the God fell in love.

This morning you undertake a comprehensive tour of the Western Group of temples containing some of the finest examples of Chandela Art to be found.

Following the tour you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Varanasi, where you are met and taken to your hotel. In the evening you are taken with bicycle rickshaws through the colourful, chaotic, vibrant market area to reach the banks of the Ganges, where the temples will be lit with oil lamps and candles. This light, combined with the aromas of incense sticks, oil lamps and flowers filling the air, will make the experience magical as you watch hundreds of little lamps float out onto the Ganges River as offerings during the Aarti Ceremony (collective prayer). After this spiritual experience you return to your hotel for the night. (B

Day 7 Thursday
  Depart Varanasi

Today you undertake an early morning boat ride, during which you will have the privilege of witnessing the incredible scene as thousands of pilgrims and other devotees immerse themselves in the holy water of the Ganges River to pay their homage to the revered Sun God. This is followed by a late breakfast at your hotel, after which your Experience Tour comes to an end as you check out of your hotel and are transferred to the airport for your onward flight. (B)

Please note: The Tiger Reserves are closed during the monsoon season, which is typically from June to October. There are good flight connections to Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata from Varanasi.
