Shimla & the Himalayas Tour (7 days)

7 days duration

Shimla was the summer capital of India in Colonial times! It is possible to fly to Shimla from Delhi, thus making a return flight or a combined flight one way and the train in the other direction option possible. (Flights are an additional cost.)

 

Day 1 Arrive Delhi
 
On arrival in Delhi you will be met and transferred to your well appointed hotel for the night.
 
Day 2 Delhi / Shimla
 
This morning you are driven to New Delhi Railway Station where you will be assisted in boarding the Shatabdi Express to Kalka. Here you transfer to the narrow gage ‘Hill Train’, which takes you through spectacular scenery as you climb up the Himalayas to Shimla.
 
On arrival in Shimla you are met and taken to your hotel for a refreshing four-night stay. You have the afternoon at leisure to explore your surroundings or to relax in the hotel. (B)
 
Day 3 Shimla
 
Following breakfast you are taken on a drive to the Naldhera region. Your drive includes a stop at the Pine and Oak woods at Mashobra and the opportunity to experience spectacular views of the Himalaya Mountain Range from Kufri. You will return to Shimla before lunch.

In the afternoon you undertake a half day tour of Shimla which includes the Mall (an old English style village with numerous shops selling all sorts of wares) and the Jakhu Temple, which sits atop Jakhu Hill. This temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman (the Monkey God). Other places of interest include the State Museum and St Michael’s Cathedral. (B)
 
Day 4 Shimla
 
You have the full day at leisure to explore this interesting town. You may wish to play a round of golf, at your own cost, at Naldhera, located near Shimla. (B)
 
Day 5 Shimla
 
You have another day at leisure to relax and soak up the clear mountain air of Shimla and its surroundings. (B
 
Day 6 Shimla / Delhi
 
This morning you will be transferred to Shimla Station for your ‘Hill Train’ journey to Kalka, where you connect with the Shatabdi Express to New Delhi. On arrival you are met and taken to your hotel in Delhi for the night. (B
 
Day 7 Depart Delhi
 
Your tour comes to an end this morning as you check out of your hotel. (B)
