The ancient mountain Kingdom of Nepal is a tiny and intriguing country situated almost at the top of the world. Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, is a fascinating city with much to offer.
The following seven-day tour is perfect for travellers with limited time, who want to experience an authentic taste of Nepal. No visit to Nepal would be complete without a flight around Mt Everest, the world’s highest mountain. Quality time in Kathmandu also allows for an introduction to the Buddhist faith, with visits to local stupas, monasteries and temples. We also include time in pretty Pokhara.

Arrive Kathmandu |
On arrival in Kathmandu you will be taken to your centrally located hotel. Tonight you will partake of Nepalese culture at a local restaurant.
Kathmandu, the capital of the mountain Kingdom of Nepal has the air of a medieval city: a maze of narrow streets, wooden temples and beautifully decorated palaces. Only in the 1950’s was Nepal opened up to visitors and today the contrasts between technology and tradition make Kathmandu fascinating. (D)
Very early this morning, weather permitting, you undertake a scenic flight around Mount Everest to view this famous peak.
This is followed by a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu visiting, among others, the Temple of Kumari, the residence of the living Goddess, with its carved wooden balconies and windows and the fabulous Swayambhunath, a Buddhist stupa which is said to be over 2,000 years old.
In the afternoon you are taken to visit Patan City or “the City of Fine Arts” as it is known. Here you visit Patan Durbar Square, situated in the city’s heart and boasting Hindu temples and Buddhist monuments. It consists of three main courtyards: the central Mul Chowk, Sundari Chowk and Keshav Chowk. (BD)
After breakfast you are taken to Boudhanath, which is possibly the world’s largest Buddhist stupa and a site of great veneration for Buddhists. Around the stupa a number of monasteries of the different sects of Tibetan Buddhism have sprung up, which include one that houses an enormous, splendidly adorned, seated statue of Maitreya Buddha. You also visit Pashupatinath, the most sacred Hindu temple in Nepal, situated on the holy Bagmati River.
In the afternoon you are taken to Bhaktapur City or the “City of Devotees” as it is called. Shaped like a conch shell, it was the setting for the major Hollywood film The Little Buddha. Here you visit other showpieces such as Lion Gate, Bhupatindra Malla statue, Picture Galley, Golden Gate, Palace of 55 Windows, Bastille Temple and the Bell of Barking Dogs. (B)
