This camp is one of the remotest camps in all of Southern Africa and offers what many feel is the most memorable experience in Namibia. The small camp is located in the extreme north-west of Namibia where it shares this region with the wonderful and colourful Himba people. Being some of the last true nomadic people of Africa, the camp provides its guests the opportunity to learn about their lifestyle and traditions.
The Kunene River, which flows past the camp, is the only permanent source of water and creates an oasis along its banks surrounded by rugged mountains and sand dunes. The camp is situated under big shady albida trees overlooking the Kunene River and comprises eight canvas and thatched chalets that are raised off the ground, each with an ensuite bathroom. Other facilities include a small swimming pool, dining room and bar. (BLD) Palmwag Rhino Camp, Damaraland This camp is strategically located in the private Palmwag Reserve in Damaraland in north-west Namibia, between Etosha and the Skeleton Coast. Few places on the planet can offer this level of privacy and wilderness experience.
This desert reserve has a number of fresh water springs that support healthy populations of animals including desert-adapted Black Rhino and Elephant as well as large populations of the rare Hartmann's Mountain Zebra, Giraffe, Oryx, Springbok and Kudu. Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Brown and Spotted Hyaena are also usually present. Activities include rhino tracking on foot or by vehicle as well as day and night nature drives. The camp has eight large East African meru styled tents, each with an ensuite bathroom comprising hand basin, flush toilet and shower. The tented dining room offers uninterrupted views of desert and mountains. Welwitschia plants (ancient desert adapted plants) dot the plain in front of the camp. (BLD) Little Kulala, Sossusvlei
This lodge is situated on a large private reserve, bordering the Namib Naukluft Park, in the heart of the Namib Desert. The camp offers magnificent views of the famous Red Dunes of Sossusvlei, mountainous scenery and vast open plains. Early morning guided game drives to the spectacular dunes are undertaken through a private gate on the Tsauchab River. Game drives and walks are also offered on this private reserve. Here, guests can enjoy incredible views, desert game and desert flora and fauna. The lodge has eight thatched and canvas chalets, each built on a wooden platform to provide maximum airflow. A popular option with outdoor enthusiasts is to sleep under the stars on mattresses placed on private stargazing platforms on top of each room. The lodge boasts a lounge, bar, dining area and plunge pool, affording magnificent views of the dunes, while verandahs overlook the waterhole. Another option is early morning ballooning, beginning at first light.
