Mystical Madagascar (11 days)11 days duration
On arrival in Antananarivo ("Tana" for short), the lively Malagasy capital, you will be met and transferred by road to Perinet National Park.
You have the whole day to explore Perinet National Park with an English speaking guide. The trails are not difficult to manage and you should encounter the likes of Grey Bamboo Lemur, Red-fronted Brown Lemur; numerous birds, as well as impressive reptiles like Parson's Chameleon. Orchids and other epiphytes festoon the trees. (B)
Today you can visit the wilder rainforest in Mantadia National Park with your guide. It is fairly challenging terrain, but you can do as much as you feel comfortable with. The primary rainforest here is spectacular and wildlife includes Diadem Sifaka and Ruffed Lemur. (B)
After breakfast you are transferred back to "Tana'' where you board your flight to Morondava in the southwest of the country. On arrival you are met and taken to your hotel for a two-night stay. (BD)
Today you will undertake a full-day excursion to the fabulous Kirindy (Swiss) Forest, renowned for its Baobab Trees. (BD)
Your morning is at leisure. Later today you are transferred to the airport for your flight to Taolagnaro (Fort Dauphin), on the far southeast coast. From here you will be taken by car to Berenty Reserve, a two-hour drive inland. (BD)
You have the whole day at leisure to enjoy the Reserve. Berenty is famous for its Ring-tailed Lemurs but also offers great birding and interesting reptiles. The spiny desert flora and dry gallery woodland found here are remarkable. (BD)
The morning is at leisure to relax or take a final walk with the lemurs. Later today you will be transferred to Taolagnaro Airport where you connect with your flight to ''Tana''. On arrival you will be met and taken to your hotel for tonight. (B)
Early this morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to the tropical island of Nosy Be, where on arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a fabulous two-night stay. (BD)
Today is at leisure in Nosy Be, ''the perfume island''. It gets this name from the scent given off by the Ylang-ylang plantations scattered around the island. Ylang-ylang serves as raw material for perfume.
It is possible to undertake various optional excursions. These include an excursion to Nosy Komba and Nosy Tanikely, isolated tranquil islands accessible only by boat. Nosy Komba means island of lemurs, for which it is well known and affords great photo opportunities.
Alternatively, visit Mont Passot or Ylang-Ylang distillery. (B)
Your tour comes to an end as you are transferred to the airport in Nosy Be for your onward flight. There are good connections for flights to Mauritius via Antananarivo or to Johannesburg via Pemba. (BD)
