French Polynesia Stopover (2-7 days)

At present, if flying on a LAN Airlines ticket from Australia or New Zealand, it is possible to fly back from Santiago via Easter Island and Tahiti at no extra cost. This package is therefore designed to make use of this option. It is also possible to combine this stopover with the Easter Island one if you wish to stop there as well. Depending on your length of stay we suggest you only visit one or two of the islands but for stays of a week, a third can be considered. 

The Polynesian Islands of the Pacific stretch over an area the size of Europe. Made up of five distinct archipelagos the travel options are numerous and the temptation is therefore to try and visit them all. This results in lots of time doing transfers and little time doing what you really want to do, relax. We have therefore chosen to concentrate on only one, the Society Archipelago. It contains the most well known islands of Tahiti and Bora Bora which conjure up images of sun drenched tropical paradise set amidst blue lagoons.


TAHITI
More than just an international point of arrival for the other fabulous nearby islands, Papeete, the capital of Tahiti, offers numerous treasures: the colourful market, art and history museums, botanical and flower gardens, animated nightlife and cultural exhibitions such as the traditional 'Heiva' which provides a lively change of scenery full of folklore, dancing, singing, colours and fragrances. BORA BORA 
Bora Bora is probably one of the best known island paradises in the world. 'The Pearl of the Pacific' as Captain Cook baptised it, bears the magic of the most beautiful Polynesian island. This ancient stretched volcano shows its two peaks whose green colours stand out against the jade, turquoise and sapphire lagoon. Known as the most beautiful in the world, the lagoon, linked to the ocean is a natural swimming pool offering a big choice of water pleasures. MOOREA
Only five minutes by air from Tahiti, Moorea resembles a vast star-shaped garden branching out into eight valleys. This island has one of the most beautiful lagoons in the Pacific. Its turquoise waters reflect the harmony of the underwater world where divers might meet turtles, leopard rays and tropical fish. TAHAA
This enchanted paradise, endowed with a magnificent turquoise lagoon, which it shares with Raiatea, is surrounded by ‘motus’, islets of superb white sand beaches and is an ancient volcano. Tahaa is renowned for its quiet bays protected from trade winds, its archeological sites and its lagoon dotted with pearl farms. RAIATEA
Raiatea, the sacred island, offers the magical atmosphere of a place rich in legend. From the Faaroa Crater, passing over numerous waterfalls to the summit of its highest peak, various excursions let you cross the majestic mountains which divide the island. Raiatea also offers divers the pleasure of exploring her marvellous underwater gardens near the coral reef. On Raiatea, Inca Tours recommends the quaint Raiatea Hawaiki Nui Hotel, a great alternative for the more budget conscious traveller.
