The Travel Compensation Fund
The Travel Compensation Fund is a body formed to protect the travel consumer in the event that a travel agent experiences business or financial difficulties. The TCF regulates travel agents, provides compensation to consumers, and ensures that travel agents have and will continue to have sufficient financial resources to trade properly.

The Travel Compensation Fund (TCF) monitors the financial security of all licensed travel agents in Australia, except in the Northern Territory. To become a participant in the TCF, applicants must be able to demonstrate they have sufficient financial resources to carry on the business of a travel agent. All participants are required to renew membership annually, providing audited financial statements and a certified Annual Financial Review return to confirm that they continue to have sufficient financial resources. It is a statuary requirement that a travel agent / tour operator must be a member of the TCF in order to hold a Travel Agents Licence. The TCF compensates consumers who have suffered financial loss by a travel agent's failure to account for monies paid to the agent for travel arrangements. The TCF does not compensate consumers for loss in respect of amounts paid directly to travel principals (airlines, hotels, etc.) As the TCF is funded entirely by licensed travel agents, customers who deal directly with airlines and hotels or make travel arrangements over the Internet with tour operators based outside Australia may not be eligible for compensation in the event that the airline, hotel group or tour operator should go into liquidation – or possibly not even exist. It is wise to deal ONLY with licensed travel agents.

The Office of Fair Trading
As the consumer protection agency of Government in New South Wales, the Office of Fair Trading works to assist consumers in resolving a wide range of issues. In doing so, it also advises traders on fair and ethical practice, registers businesses and promotes co-operatives, provides occupational licensing and maintains product safety and standards. It is a statuary requirement that all persons or Companies who wish to trade as a travel agent / tour operator in NSW MUST be licensed by The Office of Fair Trading. Inca Tours is licensed with The Office of Fair Trading and holds licence number 2TA5698.
