Cape & Peninsula (5 days)5 days duration
On arrival in Cape Town you are met and taken to your hotel, situated in the heart of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Here you are welcome for a fabulous four-night stay.
This morning you enjoy a city tour taking in the highlights of Cape Town, which include the Castle of Good Hope from 1666, the Malay Quarter and magnificent Table Mountain. Here you ascend to the top (weather permitting) by revolving cable car, where you can marvel at the birds-eye view of the city and its beaches far below. After descending from the mountain you are taken back to your hotel. (B)
This afternoon you may with to undertake an optional excursion to Robben Island: You proceed to the harbour, where (weather permitting) you board a ferry to Robben Island. Formerly a political prison, now a museum and National Monument, you view what was Nelson Mandela's maximum-security prison cell during his 18 years of incarceration.
Today's pleasant tour begins with a scenic drive along the Atlantic Coast, with its glorious views of the Twelve Apostles, part of the Table Mountain Range; the fishing village of Hout Bay, one of Cape Town’s best-kept secrets; and then on to Cape Point in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet.
Following the False Bay Coastline, you return to Cape Town. Before returning to your hotel, you stop at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens for a short walking tour of this beautiful place. The final leg of the tour takes you past Cape Town University, Rhodes Memorial and the Groote Schuur Hospital where the world’s first successful human heart-transplant was performed in 1967. (B)
You have the full day at leisure to explore the waterfront in your own time or alternatively, to undertake an optional tour in or outside of Cape Town. (B)
We recommend undertaking the full or half day Cape Winelands Tour as follows: You tour covers the country's major wine routes. While South Africa's fertile valleys of the Western Cape are famous for their crisp white and classic French-style red wines, the area is also a treasury of rustic beauty and sprawling estates shaded by giant Oak Trees. Your first stop is at Paarl, where you will be struck by the beauty of the valley. During the day you visit a number of historic estates. The last part of the tour takes you to Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa. Here you view the gracious blend of 18th century Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian buildings.
After breakfast you are taken to Cape Town Airport where your tour ends. (B)
