Cape, Namibia & Vic Falls (23 days)23 days duration
On arrival in Cape Town you are met and taken to your hotel, strategically situated in the heart of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, where you are made welcome for a two-night stay. The Waterfront is Cape Town's most visited attraction.
This morning you enjoy a scenic drive along the Atlantic, with views of the Twelve Apostles, part of Cape Point in the Cape of Good Hope Reserve. Following the coast, you return via Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for a visit. Finally, you see Cape Town University and the Groote Schuur Hospital where the world's first successful heart-transplant occurred in 1967. (B)
Today's city tour takes in the highlights of Cape Town, which include the Castle of Good Hope from 1666, the Malay Quarter and magnificent Table Mountain. Here you ascent (weather allowing) by revolving cable car, for a birds-eye view of the city and beaches far below.
After descending from the mountain you are taken to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Windhoek in Namibia. On arrival you are met and taken to your hotel for tonight. Windhoek, with its lingering heritage of old German architecture, activities and atmosphere, is a very interesting city. (B)
You have the morning at leisure before departing from Windhoek in the early afternoon. Today's journey takes you via the Spreedshoogte Pass (or Kuiseb Canyon) and Solitaire, to your lodge bordering on the Namib Desert. Here you spend the next two nights under the vast African sky. (BD)
Early this morning you depart for Sossusvlei, stopping in the dune belt to enjoy the ever changing colours of the world's highest sand dunes. The morning is spent walking amongst the dunes of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. Enroute back to the lodge you visit the rugged Sesriem Canyon. This afternoon you are taken for a nature drive before returning to the lodge for your final night. (BLD)
After breakfast you travel via Kuiseb Canyon enroute to your hotel in the town of Swakopmund. With its German Colonial atmosphere, it is the principal coastal resort of Namibia. You arrive around midday and the remainder of your day is at leisure to enjoy the charm of this destination. (B)
You have the full day at leisure to explore this interesting town and undertake any of the optional activities available. (B)
Travelling via the Skeleton Coast you see the Rock Art and the Organ Pipes before arriving at your lodge in the wilderness of Damaraland for two fabulous nights. (BLD)
This morning you undertake a drive in rocky Damaraland, one of the very last wilderness areas in Africa. In the late afternoon you are taken on a guided nature walk. (BLD)
Following breakfast you visit a Himba community near Kamanjab. The Himba are a semi-nomadic tribe, who live in scattered settlements throughout the region. They are characterised by their proud yet friendly stature and the women are noted for their unusual beauty, enhanced by intricate hairstyles and traditional dress. Time is spent at this traditional Himba settlement learning more about these fascinating people. Following the visit you complete the drive to your lodge for the night. (BLD)
Early this morning you undertake a game drive near the lodge. Later you are taken via Outjo to your lodge located adjacent to Etosha National Park. In the afternoon the first safari drive is done into the park to look for the numerous animals and birds that call the park home. (BD)
A full day is spent exploring the park and visiting the various waterholes that attract the animals. (BD)
Another day is spent exploring the park. Due to its size you should visit different areas to yesterday. Tonight is spent in a comfortable room in one of the parks rest camps. The evening can be spent watching an amazing diversity of animals around the floodlit waterhole bordering the rest camp. (BD)
Following breakfast you depart for Otavi via Okahandja, where you visit a local craft market. On arrival in Otavi you have the afternoon at leisure. (BD)
Today you visit the Hoba Meteorite enroute to your lodge located on the Kavango River in the western Caprivi Strip. This evening you enjoy a sunset cruise on the river. (BD)
You undertake a game drive along the flood plains of the Mahangu Game Reserve before visiting Popa Falls on your way to Mudumu National Park. You have a game viewing activity this afternoon. (BLD)
Following breakfast you visit the Living Museum of Mafwe during which you gain an insight into the traditional culture of the Mafwe people who live in the area. (BLD)
Today you reach Katimo Mulilo on the extreme eastern end of the Caprivi Strip before entering into Botswana. You drive through Chobe National Park on your way to your lodge located adjacent to the park. Here you spend three nights. This afternoon you undertake a sunset cruise on the Chobe River to see what animals are coming down to drink at the water's edge. (BD)
You explore the fertile bushland bordering the Chobe River in especially adapted 4 x 4 safari vehicles. At sunset undertake leisurely sundowner cruises on the river. Here you expert guides and trackers will introduce you to one of Africa's largest concentration of elephant, which top the very impressive list of wildlife found here. (BLD)
This morning you undertake a final game viewing activity. After lunch you are taken to your hotel at Victoria Falls. (BL)
After breakfast you are taken on a guided tour of Victoria Falls, one of the Natural Wonders of the World. This leisurely walk will take you through the lush rainforest surrounding the falls to where you can view many magnificent cataracts, Livingstone's Statue and a wide variety of birds and plants. In the evening you are taken for a traditional dinner at "The Boma". (BD)
You have the morning at leisure to relax or explore further. Later you are taken to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
