Cape & Garden Route (6 days)6 days duration
You depart from Cape Town and travel through the Cape Winelands to Stellenbosch, where you have the chance to undertake a wine tasting. Following the wine tasting you travel to Montagu, known for its historic architecture along "Route 62". Enroute you travel via Robertson, known for its wines and Worcester, known for its brandy.
This morning you continue your journey through the mountains to Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo. During the drive you stop off at a community-based farm school to meet the children and their teachers. Later today you visit a working ostrich farm for a guided tour taking in the feather rooms, incubators, breeding enclosures and Kraal where you will have the opportunity to get close to and, if you wish, even sit on the birds! Following this interesting tour you have the opportunity to explore the vast limestone caverns of the Cango Caves. (BL)
After breakfast you are taken through the Outeniqua Mountains, via the scenic Outeniqua Pass with its panoramic views of the coastal plain, to Knysna. On arrival you board the Featherbed Cruise and cross the Knysna Lagoon to the Western side of Knysna Heads. A tractor meets you for a transfer to the top of the Western head of the Featherbed Nature Reserve with its spectacular views of the ocean, lagoon and surrounding ranges. From here you begin your walk down through the Milkwood Trees to the boat jetty below. Here you have lunch overlooking the lagoon before being taken to your Knysna hotel. (BL)
This morning you travel to the Tsitsikamma Forest and Mountain Range via Nature's Valley and its spectacular passes. You visit the Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary, one of the largest 'free ranging' sanctuaries of its kind in the world. You return to Knysna via the quaint seaside town of Plettenberg Bay. (B)
Today you travel along the coastal mountain ranges via Mossel Bay and Swellendam to Hermanus, one of the world's best shore based whale watching sites between August and November. (BL)
Today you depart from Hermanus and travel along the spectacular coastal road to Somerset West and Cape Town where on arrival late in the day, your tour ends. (B)
