Best of Jordan (7 days)7 days duration
On arrival in Amman, the capital of Jordan, you are met and taken to your hotel for a two-night stay.
This morning you depart on a full day sightseeing excursion beginning with a visit to one of the three Crusader Castles in Jordan, Ajulan Castle. Following the visit you are taken to Jerash which dates back 2,000 years and is acknowledged as one of the largest and most well preserved sites of Roman architecture outside of Italy. Here you are taken on a guided tour which is followed by free time to explore further on your own.
Following lunch undertake a brief tour of Amman during which you should see Jabal al-Qal'a (Citadel Hill), the Umayyad Place and the Roman Theatre. Before returning to your hotel for the night, you undertake a casual walk in the old downtown area of the city, through the Suq (bazaars) and the Gold Market. (BL)
You depart today and drive to the ancient town of Petra. During the drive you travel via the ancient King's Way and visit Madaba, Mt Nebo, Mujib and see Kerak Castle enroute. (B)
Today you undertake a full day guided visit to the ancient Nabatean Capital of Petra, dating back over 2,000 years. Your tour starts by horse drawn cart and is followed by a walk through the Siq, a long narrow fissure between the two overhanging cliffs, which are over 80 metres high in parts. After proceeding through the Siq, the Red Rose City with her spectacular treasury, Royal Tombs, Burial Chambers and High Places of Sacrifice will unfold her mysteries. You then spend some more time exploring the extensive complex before returning to your hotel to relax.
Later this evening you are taken for a Petra-by-Night Tour. (B)
Later in the morning you are taken by road to the port city of Aqaba. On the way you undertake a 4x4 excursion to visit Wadi Rum with its spectacular desert formations and colours. You witness the changing colours as the sun begins to go down before being taken to your hotel in Aqaba for the night. (BL)
Following breafast you are taken by road to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth! After checking in to your hotel, you have the remainder of the day at leisure. You may wish to go for an unusual 'swim' in the Dead Sea. (D)
After a leisurely breakfast you are taken to Amman Airport and assisted with your check in for your onward flight. (B)
