Amazon Nature Cruise (8 days)

8 days duration

A voyage to the remotest reaches of the Amazon with classic elegance, comfort and style.

This cruise explores some of the most untouched rainforest in all of the Amazon. On your expedition vessel, a very elegantly equipped motor yacht, you will venture far up the least inhabited river in the Amazon Basin - the Rio Negro. We explore areas very rarely visited and seek out the mysterious life of the wilderness that stirs in the forest and in the heart of wild nature. As if we were using a time machine we will be able to visit places that have not changed for millions of years - truly the trip of a lifetime

Authentic and Active program
This trip entails the most engaging, authentic, informative and active nature program in the Amazon to satisfy passengers who would like to get beyond the touristy experience of most cruises. You will visit areas rarely ever visited by other tour groups and see creaturs that are almost never seen on other Amazon trips. You will be exploring areas rich in wildlife and actually spend quite a lot of time in the forest exploring and experiencing the unique Amazon nature.

Small groups
The scheduled cruises take only small groups (a maximum of 18 passengers), allowing the guests to spend much more time with the guides, which really enriches the entire experience.

Comfortable Vessel and High Quality Service
All the cabins on the Motor Yacht are outside cabins with private baths and air conditioning. The vessel is elegant with lots of polished brass and highly varnished woodwork. The Yacht carries a large crew, trained to maintain the vessel clean to the standards of foreign travellers as well as to offer excellent service in every way possible.

Highly Skilled Naturalist Guides
The guides accompanying the cruise are some of the very best in the Amazon. They are skilled bilingual naturalists and their experience helps passengers unlock the secrets of the magnificent wildlife of the rainforest.

Day 1 Manaus / Amazon Cruise

This morning you will board your cruise boat in Manaus and depart upstream on the Negro River. During the morning you will cruise through the Anavilhanas Archipelago. By mid-afternoon your vessel will have gone beyond the frontier of settlement and entered the wilderness area. Though you never know what you may see, you have a good chance of observing pink river dolphins and you will certainly be treated to magnificent forest vistas. In the late afternoon you embark in a launch to search for wildlife. You may also go for a swim in the river's refreshing waters. (LD)

Day 2 Amazon Cruise

Early this morning you will explore the rainforest along the water's edge, where you should hear and perhaps see howler monkeys along with a morning serenade of toucans. After breakfast you can go for a walk in the forest before your vessel gets underway. In the late afternoon you will explore the forest in a launch and listen to the sunset chorus of birds and frogs. (BLD)

Day 3 Amazon Cruise

This morning there will be a visit to the waking forest, where you may be able to see monkeys. Your motor yacht will travel during the middle of the day and stop in the afternoon for an excursion. Tonight the vessel may travel a bit more as you marvel at the night sky crowded with the most brilliant of stars. (BLD)

Day 4 Amazon Cruise

After this morning's excursions your motor yacht will navigate along the heavily forested shore, scouting for wildlife. You may stop for a visit at a settler’s home carved out of the forest. In the early afternoon you will be near an extraordinary river called the Rio Jauaperi. Here you will see a kind of forest known as the "Varzea". You will scout along the shoreline for some of the extraordinary creatures found only in this unique environment. Weather permitting you will do a night excursion to observe nocturnal creatures. (BLD)

Day 5 Amazon Cruise

Today you depart the Jauaperi River and head downstream exploring a new collection of rainforest habitats. (BLD)

Day 6 Amazon Cruise

Today you will stop to visit the substantial boat building village of Novo Airao. As you walk through the streets you'll marvel at how the 19th Century still thrives in this remote corner of the globe.

Tonight your motor yacht goes downstream to arrive at daybreak near the confluence with the Amazon. As you glide through the darkness, you may like to celebrate with the national drink of Brazil, the Caipirinha! (BLD
)

Day 7 Amazon Cruise

This morning you will explore the Lago Janauari Ecological Park, where seasonally the brown water of the Amazon flows swiftly through the forest. Around midday your vessel will travel to the "Meeting of the Waters", a distinct several mile-long line, where the world's two largest rivers, the Amazon and the Negro, join in a turbulent maelstrom. Here the dark water of the Negro runs beside the opaque brown water of the Amazon.

In the afternoon you scout one of the hidden streams in the area to try to see more of the Amazon's beautiful and bizarre creatures. Tonight there will be one last excursion looking for jungle life. (BLD)

Day 8 Amazon Cruise / Depart Manaus

This morning you will disembark in Manaus before being transferred to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
